We at Viterra are excited to announce an opening for a Senior Network Engineer within our Infrastructure team.
The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the IT infrastructure and networks within EMEA region and regional datacenters. The professional in this role ensure stability, integrity, security, continuity and efficient operation of the company corporate networks. This is achieved by designing, implementing, monitoring, maintaining, supporting, improving and optimizing related services. The Senior Network Engineer will apply proven technical, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments. The incumbent will also manage and coordinate activities within own area of responsibility, mentoring and provide guidance to the more junior staff.
We have currently set our scope to include candidates who already live and work in the Netherlands (this with regard to our company policy to work at the office HQ Rotterdam 3 days a week)
Your role in our network- Design, implement, support and troubleshoot regional and global network and firewall and load balance solutions
- Assess the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems; develop and implement strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems
- Implement security measures and follow relevant policies to protect the company from cyber threats. Conduct security assessments and vulnerability remediation.
- Participate in network automation with a goal to manage network components using scripts
- Collaborate with IT OPS staff to ensure smooth and reliable operation of systems, services and software for fulfilling business objectives and processes
- Implement processes, policies, best practices and tools to provide stable, predictable and high-performance environment
- Develop and maintain networking and security standards and documentation to ensure effective knowledge transfer and team collaboration
- Give solicited and unsolicited advice within own area of responsibility
- Work with executive team members, decision makers, and stakeholders to define business requirements and systems goals, and to identify and resolve business systems issues
- Provide guidance and mentorship to more junior colleagues, review their work, be on a leading position within network team
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
- Ready to work outside normal office hours and weekends, if required

- Bachelor/Master or equivalent degree in Information Technology or another relevant field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of networking principles, protocols, and security concepts
- Experience with firewall and network design, deployment and management in large and complex environments
- Proven significant Fortinet experience at a level of NSE4 and NSE5 minimum: FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer
- Distribution and access technologies based on Fortinet, Cisco Nexus 9000 series and Cisco Catalyst family
- Knowledge of and the experience with the network management tools Cisco certification: at least CCNA Routing and Switching
- Strong analytical and creative problem-solving abilities to resolve complex issues within an enterprise environment
- Proven leadership and team management skills with the ability to mentor and guide more junior colleagues
Next skills, experience and certifications would be a plus:
- Fortinet NSE4 and NSE5 certification
- Experience in working with F5 products, including Load Balancers
- Experience with Ansible, Python or other network automation tooling
- Understanding of AWS services and architectures
- Experience with OT networks, knowledge of OT concepts
