De functieFor this specialist in designing custom-built superyachts, we are seeking a Marine Engineer. As a Marine Engineer, your role involves developing the theoretical naval design of a yacht in various sub-areas, collaborating with the relevant (Senior) Naval Architect. You will work closely with and assist the (Senior) Naval Architect who oversees the project at the shipbuilding level. As a key member of a team of Marine Engineers (approximately 10), you will report to the Principal Naval Architect and/or the Manager Engineering of the department.
Your main focus areas and responsibilities are:
Advice and support:
- Preparing a critical analysis of the fabrication and feasibility of the design, ensuring the information is adequate and accurate.
- Identifying (complex) problems and providing analysis and advice.
- Supporting and advising Naval Architects on design integrity following the company's preconditions.
- Maintaining continuous communication with Naval Architects for information exchange, coordination, and design consultation.
- Monitoring the development of norms, standards, and procedures to optimize the deployment of knowledge and skills.
Calculations and drawings (2D/3D):
- Weight, resistance, propulsion and stability (including inclination tests).
- Hull line plans including fittings, shaft line and tank layout.
- Comfort, maneuvering, noise and vibration.
- Related regulations, such as loadline, fire plans and watertight integrity.

- Good employment conditions, including:
- A salary ranging from €50.000 to €68.000 including a 13th-month bonus and 8% holiday allowance (salary based on experience and availability).
- 38 days of leave per year, consisting of 25 vacation days + 13 days off in lieu (ADV).
As a Marine Engineer, you are communicatively strong and ask the right questions to obtain required information, but you can also communicate your message clearly and correctly. You are analytically strong and able to propose and realise innovative solutions based on sound knowledge.
You are used to organising and planning your work well and going the extra mile when the project demands it. You are also familiar with the complex relationships between yard, client, designers and colleagues from internal engineering disciplines. You have a proactive attitude and seek cooperation with your colleagues and superior.
Requirements:
- At least a completed HBO education with specialisation in Shipbuilding.
- You are a starter or already have experience within the ship/yacht building industry with previously mentioned tasks and responsibilities;
- A good command of the English (and Dutch) languages (technical).
- Good computer skills and knowledge of (3D) CAD/PLM systems is a plus, such as: Siemens NX, Paramarine, etc.
- Good social and communication skills, enabling you to cooperate with colleagues inside and outside your own discipline.
- Curiosity, flexibility, accuracy and analytical skills.
- Proven pro-activity and strong in planning & organising.
